Less than a quarter-mile from the Malibu shoreline, this four-acre estate adjoins a riparian arroyo. The gently sloping lawn features a sprawling ancient sycamore, a treasured living sculpture, and awe-inspiring sunset and mountain views.
The original pool, located in a shaded section of the garden, was replaced by a new tile-lined pool in a sunnier spot with views of a tree-lined valley. Working within the garden’s existing tropical theme, mature palms and bamboo were carefully transplanted to form sunny outdoor rooms.
At the owner’s request, the new pool area has the feel of a luxury resort. The garden rooms can accommodate both family gatherings and extravagant parties thanks to two outdoor kitchens, one for everyday preparations and the other for more elaborate affairs. An open-air gym stands on the site of the old pool, while a grand firepit graces a formerly idle area of the garden.
