For this modernist home designed by Frederick Fisher and Partners, Russ Cletta Landscape Design Studio created a tranquil pocket garden that reflects the home’s contemporary architecture and creates a feeling of spaciousness.
To fulfill the client’s wish list and achieve the best landscape design possible within a compact environment, all elements serve multiple functions. The low, rectangular entry fountain adds the restfulness of a water feature while simultaneously providing extra seating and defining the patio’s entrance. A small fire pit set into the ground offers warmth on cool evenings but may be discreetly covered to allow other uses for the space.
A meditative side patio incorporates a small bubble fountain and outdoor shower. Throughout the installation, water-wise divided pavers prevent runoff and add architectural interest.
